My Project

Our district is adopting a new reading curriculum this school year. The new content is quit rigorous and complex. The knowledge strand of the new program builds background and vocabulary by presenting and discussing topics in a variety of reading domains. This project will help students develop content rich comprehension and robust vocabulary skills.

This project will also prepare my second graders with social studies based read alouds that encourage them to make deep connections to the diverse themes being learned.

These curriculum aligned trade books will provide opportunities for my class to have meaning conversations about elaborate topics such as The War of 1812, The Westward Expansion, and the U.S Civil War ( Domains 5,7,and 9).
