I am a school teacher in San Jose, California. I teach third grade. I am starting a new reading program with my students this coming school year. I am so excited to implement "Reader's Workshop". This combines a mini-lesson with independent reading and guided reading. The students will need to keep track of not only their independent reading but also their guided reading. They will need to shop for books once a week and they will have to store approximately five books. I think it is imperative for the students to have the requested magazine files to keep their supplies organized. I can have a place in the room where they are kept and during Reader's Workshop they can go get their supplies. Our desks are very small. In addition, the students tend to lose things very easily. This organization tool would be extremely helpful. Every child will need a file in order for this to be successful. The pointers that I am asking for are for their presentations. Students like to point to different areas on their posters. During Reader's Workshop the children will be making movie posters and will to present their posters to the class. Holding a wand makes them feel special. It also gives them a little boost of self-confidence. I hope you will help us this school year with a wonderful organization system for Reader's Workshop.
