Help me give my students a diverse classroom full of opportunity to grow as readers, scientists, and critical thinkers. The materials such as the listening center and white board table provide the students with opportunities to work collaboratively!
My students are a wonderfully diverse group of 22 learners who are capable of many things, they are full of many unique talents, that provide me with the opportunity to also learn everyday.
My students come to my classroom ready to learn, eager to see what the days adventure will bring!
They enjoy flexible seating, diving into books that are familiar and culturally economically diverse, my students love to read books that they can relate to. They enjoy diversified lessons, hands on experiences, and real life examples.
We are in a mixed ability classroom, that includes varying learning styles, students with various identifications, and culturally diverse students, which makes our classroom and lesson planning inclusive and full of exciting lesson plans geared towards all learners.
My Project
We view our classroom as a family, I've tried my best to make our space inviting, comfortable, and arranged perfectly for collaboration by using tables instead of desks, creating a classroom library, and adding some flexible seating. This project provides me with the opportunity to take our "home" to the next level!
Literature is important, students having the opportunity to fall in love with reading, while seeing themselves and gaining understanding for others through text is also extremely important.
My students love working in our current library, they treat our books with love and care but have asked for new and exciting titles to add, adding these books along with the listening center with relevant diversified topics will be sure to make our library an even more happening spot, giving students the boost they need to dig deeper into texts and fall in love with reading the way I did in elementary school. The listening center will provide intervention for students who may benefit and will provide students with a different media/exposure to text, our current classroom does not have access to audio books.
Students can use the whiteboard table and stem literacy to pose conversations and collaboration, while bringing content cross-curricular and making learning relevant. The shelving and wobble seats provide students with the ability to work around the room, together, and comfortably, while providing intervention to students who may need to just wiggle while they learn. The ozobots provide the opportunity to incorporate rich stem based lessons where students can code and work together during any subject.
My ideal classroom is a safe, comfortable place, full of rich text, opportunity for hands on learning, and an environment conducive to collaboration, these materials can provide that environment for years to come!
