My students need basic leveled readers that are easy to understand, that they enjoy, and that help them learn language in context.

My Students

I teach in a rural school district, an hour south of Washington D.C. My students are my inspiration. Every day they remind me of why I love teaching. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Many students are children of military families whose parents work at Patuxent River Naval Air Test Station.

Some are from families that have lived in St. Mary's County since the first settlers arrived from England. They are great students and really try to understand and learn about French, France, and other francophone areas of the world. They are so open to learning about others and their cultures, what makes us different and what makes us the same. To encourage them apply what we learn in class, I would like to provide to them a reading library with a wide variety of books, from graded level readers to authentic resources. My school has already provided me with an awesome mobile book rack to display books. Now I just need to fill it up. Most of the readers I would like to include are under seven dollars each, although some are a little more. Please help me provide another avenue to learning to my students.

My Project

My new book display rack is lonely and needs filled with book friends! My school found a book rack for my classroom and now it needs filled with readers. I love to read and so do many of my students. I would like to provide them with an opportunity to take their learning to the next level which only reading language in context can do. Please help me help them! My students would appreciate your help. I chose many readers, all under $7 that are appropriate for my students and their level of comprehension. Students can learn vocabulary, conjugations, and grammar rules, but until they see them in context, they really don't get it. Fill the rack!
