I teach several classes a day in a centrally located school in Harlem, grades one through six. The majority of the students receive free lunch. I would like my students to read in the New York State Science content area, therefore we would require science books for Living Things -Insects, Habitats - Ocean Life, Growing things - Plant Life, Bones and Skeletons -Human Anatomy, Reading the Environment- and Human Body Systems - how the body works - secondly, if we had computers students could research the subjects further on the computer via the Internet. I believe this is an engaging creative learning activity. One in which the students will benefit greatly. They will now have acquired the ability to focus on the subject matter for the duration of the lesson and research allotted time. Therefore, creating substantially well rounded students able to succeed in their examinations because they have acquired the required knowledge and information through books and the Internet.
