Readers in Need of Books!

Help me give my students the gift of reading! The magazines and books will help to complete my library. With these additions, all of my readers will have choices when they fill their independent reading bins.

My Students

First grade is a year of firsts. Even though this isn't their first year of school, they are looking at the world through a new reading lens... and they keep me on my toes! They are knowledgeable, engaged, and curious learners who are determined to be the best they can be. They are not afraid to make mistakes, so they take academic risks. They come to school ready to learn, and they love to read!

Any chance they get, they love to browse my library and discover new books.

My Project

During our reading block, students spend time independently reading. They read books that are self-selected, but within their independent and instructional reading levels. Students keep a stack of books in their bins to read and reread throughout the week, and get to "book shop" once a week. Since I have a large range of reading levels in my class, I need to increase the number of books that are available to students.

It is crucial that students select books that interest them and that are within their reading levels.

Adding these materials to my library will allow all of my students to have more choice.
