My Students

My students are English Language Learners. Most of them are newcomers to America. Even though they are scared, all I see are motivated individuals who deserve a great education. We live in Illinois. 99% of my students receive free lunch. The students need a lot of support from teachers, parents, and the community.

They simply need someone to believe in them.

They are smart individuals who can achieve excellence. I believe in them! I need you to believe in them too!

My Project

My students have sparked interest in the book Wonder. I am asking for copies of the book because they can not afford to purchase it themselves. I have created a unit to focus on close reads, vocabulary instruction, theme, character traits, and social emotion learning. I want my students to become more independent readers so they will engage in literature circles.

They will be leaders and lead their own discussions.

My group of 4th graders will engage in several activities to promote social emotional learning. They need this especially at this age. I love that this book offers students an opportunity to learn a life lesson.
