This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Chicago's students are resilient. Our students are passionate. Our students are loving. Our students are talented. Despite all of this, Chicago's students are often overlooked.

My school, a public school on Chicago's far south side, is full of desire and high in need.

It also home to some of the most wonderful students I have ever had the privilege of teaching.

Our return to the classroom following the pandemic has brought incredible joy and incredible challenge. While my students have shown great love of learning, there is much work to do in order to help students reengage students' love of reading. Obtaining new, high-interest texts will help to make reading more exciting! Please join me in helping to support Chicago's students!

My Project

Nothing But the Truth and Bronx Masquerade are novels that truly captivate student interest. Both books focus on topics that are relevant to middle schoolers, and both texts explore ideas of personal identity, making choices, and viewing circumstances from multiple perspectives.

In a world that has become more divisive than ever, these two novels help students to broaden their understanding of what motivates people to make decisions.

It also helps students to question their own world view, a key part of middle school growth.

Please help me cultivate a love of reading with my students through these two awesome texts!
