I teach in a Title I school, where all of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. I teach nineteen Kindergarteners. Despite the many challenges they face in their neighborhoods, I have the amazing opportunity to provide and create a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for them at school.
My students come to school eager and ready to learn.
My students are a diverse, fun-loving, and energetic bunch. Seeing my students enjoy learning brings me such joy and pleasure.
My Project
My current classroom library is lacking the books my students want to read. Most of my current books are dilapidated and torn apart due to the love and use they have received throughout the years.
We are ready for a classroom library makeover!
My classroom library is the most important part of my room, but is in need of the most care. This project will help me build a classroom library that supports my students' daily, independent reading of self-selected books that meet their interests. After reading, my students will have the opportunity to share their thinking through drawing, writing, and brief conferences. Contributing to my classroom library will put my students on the path to success and instill a love for reading.
