My Students

My school is located just outside the city limits of St. Louis, MO. Student come from a very diverse background of economics and ethnicity. They are always eager to learn and try new things. Some of them have significant trauma at home and school is a safe, fun place to be. All students can get a free breakfast, lunch, and lots of love and learning at school. They sometimes need help with supplies, as their families struggle with providing them. With added support, they are able to learn more.

My Project

Reading is the key to success! Young students struggle with reading. These tools will help them. Many kids lose their place while reading. The strips will keep them on track and make it fun to read. Students struggle with reading fluency. The timers and reading phones will help them improve their fluency as they read. Students can time themselves on sight words and fast phrases. Reading can become fun and these tools will give them the motivation they need to take their reading to the next level. Students can work independently on their reading skills and take responsibility for becoming readers and leaders.
