This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in the classroom and home. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

My students walk into my classroom every day full of life and ready to learn! They want to be in school because they know that education is what it takes to be successful.

My Project

Reading is such an important skill in life. Research has proven that the more students read, the more they will grow as learners. My students deserve the opportunity to exposed to different literature that is at their level. They need to have high interest books that are leveled.

Many of my students do not have access to a variety of literature at home.

The books I've included in this project are leveled to meet the needs of my lowest readers all the way up to my highest readers. The book bags are sturdy and suitable for taking the books home and returning them to school to exchange.
