My students need a collection of fiction and nonfiction books that will promote student engagement and allow students to make connections through an integrated curriculum.

My Students

My classroom consists of 22 eager to learn kindergarten students. My school is located in Northwest Arkansas, and over half of our students come from low-income households.

Students in my classroom are dreamers, leaders, and achievers.

Kindergarteners are like sponges, they absorb a great deal of information in such a short amount of time. My students learn through engaging, hands-on activities, an integrated curriculum, and exposure to the community around them. By the end of the year, my students will work together to become readers and writers.

My Project

The fiction and nonfiction books that have been requested follow a curriculum that integrates all subjects. The books that have been requested follow a weekly theme. Some themes that we will cover are friendship, seasons, careers, plants, and animals. The books requested specifically tie to our curriculum's themes. Throughout these themes, students will explore, retell, grow, understand, and sequence. Reading aloud is the most important activity to promote a rich vocabulary, strong comprehension strategies, and real life skills.

These books will be the foundation for my students' education.

Through exploring these read-alouds, my students will become better readers, writers, and leaders.
