Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students read and write every day! We read books about children just like us! Then the students write about their favorite parts, connections, and themes. Next, we write in our Writer's Workshop journals. The students write stories about what is happening in their lives. We make beautiful connections between the stories that we have read and the stories about our own lives.

The students share their favorite parts and connections at our Workshop meetings.

It is music to my ears to hear the students exclaim, I have a connection too! I was nervous on my first day of school!" Seeing that writing is "thoughts on paper" promotes better writing! Connecting reading and writing leads to success in literacy!

Reading a variety of texts encourages discourse and promotes a understanding of how we are all alike and yet different. Help me develop contributing members of society through my literacy workshops!
