Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
By providing my students with materials and resources, your kind donations would enable my third-grade students to learn, and thrive, in one of the most important years of their academic lives. Our inner-city public elementary school, in a building that is over 100 years old, is located in a low-income urban neighborhood in MA. Our student population has a higher percentage of high needs students (95%), economically disadvantaged students (71%), and English Language Learners (52%) than either the district or the state.
It is my priority to make my classroom one that is safe, comfortable, and conducive to learning.
My vision for this project is to provide my diverse students with the literary materials necessary for a successful Reader's Workshop block. Thank you for considering.
My Project
As students enter third grade, the focus shifts from "learning to read" to "reading to learn"! Students in third grade also learn how to become authors of a variety of writing genres.
Readers and Writers Workshops have been proven to be engaging and effective practices for teaching literacy.
Access to materials such as pencils, paper, anchor charts, and crayons, will help my readers and writers to find themselves as authors this year. During workshops, students will learn a variety of reading and writing strategies that will last a lifetime!
Adding writing utensils like crayons and markers will also help our authors and illustrators in the class to showcase their talents. We appreciate your help!
