Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is nestled within a small poverty stricken community in Eloise, Florida. In a classroom of 23 students, it goes without saying that a majority of my students do not have the "at home" learning reinforcement that other students do. Many of my students are ESE, ESOL, or at least one to two grade levels below where they're suppose to be.
This season, my students are helping to elevate my passion as a teacher and motivating me to seek out resources to help make them more successful in their lives.
Most of my students are very timid in Reading, but I'm hoping to build their reading skills & confidence. I love being their teacher, but I feel like I'm not doing enough to help them within the time frame of public school. I'm reaching out for specific help. I'm seeking lower level Reading materials to assist me with my students Power Hour at end of day. This has to be grade level from what they tested at.
My Project
Motivational tools such as bubbles, jump ropes, hula hoops, and positive stamps will help my students meet their reading goals during their Power Hour time at end of day.
With leveled reading workbooks, it will allow students to read at their tested reading level and feel more confident!
When they successfully show completion of a section, they will then be rewarded with some free time to play like a kid.
I believe in loving and motivating my students to their full potential. These materials will help make it easier for me to help them in the process.
