My students come from many places, cultures, languages, and backgrounds. Our school sits in one of the most diverse zip codes in the U.S., and we celebrate the amazing assets and identities we bring to the classroom, such as traditions, languages, wisdom, and family connections. Pandemic learning was tough for many of my students; learning online had very few rich, hands-on experiences.
My students love to read and write, and are thrilled when they have new exciting things to read, new tools for writing, or hands-on ways to form literacy connections.
A new book is a new world to explore. Special writing paper or fun implements make writing even more engaging. Writing was tricky last year during the pandemic, as students studied on screens, and this year students need extra inviting tools and strategies to grow fine motor skills. You make deeper reading and writing possible for us. Thank you!
My Project
These hands-on books, writing materials, literacy activities, and creativity boosters will help my students engage with and be thrilled by reading and project-based writing! Books will help early readers access just-right reading, as will sight word games. Rainbow scratch craft paper will help early readers write colorful sight words and lock them into long-term memory. Rolls of lined writing paper and scissors to cut and craft them provide a unique way to create and share stories. These fun materials and books will inspire learners to connect with literacy in an exciting, hands-on way!
