My Project

Every year we're looking for new ways to engage our students with the practice of reading, writing, and sharing their ideas and understanding of the literature we read. Giving each student their own journal allows them to write daily about their thoughts as to what they read, what themes are they finding, vocabulary they may be having difficulty with or interesting facts they discover. Students will then take their journals and share with others who can also write their own thoughts in response to what was first written. This allows students to collaborate together on what they discover and have a conversation as to what they are learning with each other. The goal as that through writing and sharing, they will gain a deeper understanding of the texts that will be presented to them in class.
