My students need books for reading that focus on sight words. They also need puzzles and activities that focus on sight words and decodable words, to be used during independent practice.

My Students

I have a wonderful class of 20 students in a public school in Buffalo. Most of these students are underprivileged and come from poverty. Many students can not afford basic school supplies and I do what I can to provide them with these materials.

I have over five different languages spoken in my class, and over 30 different languages spoken in our school.

Many students have just come to American and many are coming from war torn countries and refugee camps. It is challenging to teach these students who speak limited to no English, but it is also very rewarding.

My Project

I am requesting books that focus on sight words. My students are learning how to read decodable words and sight words. These books will help my students to become able and confident readers. I am also requesting sight word puzzles to help my students read words using a hands-on, self-correcting activity. This sight word puzzle is hands-on and engaging and good for independent practice. Lastly, I am requesting an activity that focuses on reading and spelling. This activity helps the students to spell and decode words in a fun and engaging way. The students take foam letters and spell words based on a picture they see.
