This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we start the day off with 'super reader' exercises like letter name and sounds practice and reading 'popcorn words' or high frequency words. Our students love to shine and show off their progress as readers.

This class is a hysterical and motivated bunch.

They are a thoughtful, loving, and hardworking bunch, excited to learn and grow. While they are motivated by their dreams and engaged by the opportunities presented to them, due to economic challenges within the community, school, and district, our resources are limited. This can be especially difficult when a basic classroom need, access to books they can read, is limited.

My Project

I am requesting these leveled books to use during the guided reading period of the day in which students read with me and practice select foundational skills. They will be able to practice their reading skills and develop their confidence as they have more exposure to text that they can read with my support.

This project will greatly influence their learning because in order to read, they need books!

Although I have begun to accumulate some books from different resources, they are used for read aloud periods throughout the day and not something the students can typically read even with my guidance. Having these books will boost their confidence as readers and inspire them to continue to do so in the years to come.
