My students need a wide variety of books & magazines on environmental science like Soil, Farming, Monarch Butterfly, Ladybugs, and more for small group reading.
We love to read! This project will allow us to share the joy of books with primary students at our school as we collaborate to learn more about the environment, how to protect it, and the role that animals and insects play in it.
I teach a great group of fifth graders.
They enjoy coming to school each day and learning from each other. They enjoy integrating art into their learning, and they also enjoy working with younger students at our school. This project will provide my students with books to take into the primary classrooms at my school. By having these supplies, my students will be able to become mentors to our school's primary students. They will work with the younger students to read books & create original artwork based on these stories with them. Through this project, my students will learn how to encourage younger students to think creatively.
My Project
This project will provide my fifth graders an opportunity to collaborate with the primary students at our school & encourage a love of reading while encouraging students to learn more about our environment. To do this, I’m requesting a variety of picture books. Examples of these books are Ladybugs, The Honey Makers, Bats, Spiders, Pigs, From Seed to Plant, Farming, The Reasons for the Seasons and more. I am also requesting a grade level set of The Life and Billy Miller and the Kids Discover Magazine Soil. My students will help the primary students read the requested books, & through this process they will learn how to become a mentor to younger students.
This project provides a great opportunity for the students at my school to collaborate and to learn more about protecting our environment at the same time.
I am hopeful that I can get these valuable resources into the hands of my students with the help of generous donors.
