Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school where 94% of my students are experiencing economic hardship. Many of the students at my school live in mobile homes and, for some, the only meals they have are the ones provided by our school.

My students come from many diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Many of my students or their families have immigrated here from Central and South America, some have never attended school when they walk through my door. Together we bring different experiences and cultures to our community. Regardless of their socio-economic status, my students teach me and each other the meaning of love, respect, creativity, caring, and understanding every day.

My Project

These Reading materials will give my students the opportunity to read on grade level with the assistance of their teachers and peers. The fluency passages are very important because many of the students' parents struggle with reading themselves. Due to this, this will give the students hope of becoming better readers.

Reading is such an important skill in everyday life that we really need to take the time and teach every student at their level so that they succeed!

The centers will give the students a variety of ways to use the skills they have learned to correctly understand what they have read. The timers will allow more partner work in working together to improve their words read per minute. We need these students to become proficient in reading because they are our future leaders!
