My Students

Do you remember finding that one book or author that sparked your interest in books? I hope to light that spark for my students by exposing them to a variety of age appropriate novels.

I teach all types of readers, from the reluctant to the avid.

With today's technology becoming so prominent in the lives of teenagers, reading a book isn't always their idea of "fun". I hope to make them want to reach for a good book instead of their hand held electronic devices.

My Project

I am requesting books like the Sammy Keyes series to add to my classroom library. My students will be able to choose a novel for independent reading from my classroom library. We will also read the same novel as a group and delve deeper into the text by identifying literary elements.

I hope to motivate all my students to read more often.

When given the right books to choose from, I believe that all children will find one book that will make them want to read more.
