Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach math and science to 3rd and 4th graders in a large inner-city. For many years, my school was failing but not anymore! We have met and exceeded the bar for the past two years and will continue to do so!

Math can be very obscure. I often hear, "Why do we need to know this?" If I can relate math skills to my students' daily lives and what they may want to do in the future, they will be much more motivated to learn those difficult skills. We all want to have a reason and purpose for doing something and books can open my students' minds to those opportunities.

I would like several fiction and non-fiction books that bring math concepts to life. I have requested books about time, measuring, money, area, perimeter, geometry, problem solving, multiplication, division and so much more!

Your donation will bring math to life for my students. By reading books about each new skill we learn, we can connect it to our lives and open up possibilities we didn't even know existed! Thank you.
