My Students

At our school, we foster a community of students with strong character and high self-esteem who display critical thinking skills that will enable them to become life-long learners. Our staff members and parents work together to educate more than 400 children in grades Pre K-6th. Our school is considered a Title I School with 100% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch. The 6th-grade students consist of four different class sections; totaling 120 students.

My classroom consists of 30 amazing scholars.

Each student is unique and brings vivacious energy to the classroom. The 30 scholars in my classroom have been selected to partake in the college prep program. The college prep program is rigorous, fostering a community of learners who model excellence, integrity, and ever-evolving skills for the 21st century. Though students have this opportunity, many of them are lacking the necessary resources to continue working at home.

My Project

These novels will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Having books that my scholars can relate to, allow them to continue their love of reading. Unlike reading articles for the weekly skill this will allow students to participate in reading a book and carefully digesting each of the chapters for the next step in the adventure.

These novel sets will help my students see reading in an authentic context.

These novels will provide an authentic context for students to practice their comprehension skills, and expand their vocabulary.

While we use shorter texts to this way students will have the opportunity to read more interesting stories. The selection of books will allow the students to be able to study character traits, morals, life lessons, and story elements.
