My Students

"See Spot run." Remember those silly stories that our teachers used to teach us to read? Remember being bored because "Spot" could only do so many things? It's time our students had a little excitement in learning to read!

My class consists of 20-25 first graders that are emerging into the reading world.

We are a Title I school in Oklahoma and have many students that just don't have the option to expand on their reading at home. These students need more variety in their learning and more ways to help keep their interest in reading!

My Project

With these sets of books, I will be able to teach in small reading groups. These reading groups will allow my students to be taught with other students of their similar learning level. These readers will help to keep their interest in what they are reading and aid in their desire to read more and read at a higher level.

It's not about "just reading" anymore.

These students need something interesting to read. They need something that interests them. "Spot" can only run around so long before the students get bored with him and stop trying to read. These books will help the students to see that there are many interesting things to read about in our world and it will give them the desire to go out and read!
