My Students

I teach a wonderfully diverse group of 2nd grade gifted and high achieving students. They are bright, curious and love to learn. My students love to be challenged and explore the world around them. They are voracious readers and love to read higher level, interesting, relevant reading material and explore the world around them.

I love to challenge their thinking and I like to inspire them by providing them with as many unique experiences as possible.

They are so creative and love mental challenges.

My Project

My students need reading material that will challenge and inspire them to learn new things. I would like to use Storyworks Jr as a supplement to my classroom reading materials. I have found this magazine to have both fiction and non-fiction articles. There are also plays, fables, contests, etc that inspire students to read beyond the realm of the typical novel study or textbook. There is an online component with tie-ins to different curriculum areas as well. I have used a sample magazine with my class this year and they loved it. It is hard to find interesting non-fiction for the classroom but this is definitely interesting and fun!
