This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school and scholars hold the three core values of grit, drive, and growth in their mindset. We also hold the vision that every scholar will not only go to college, but graduate from college.
Our scholar population is more than ninety percent impoverished.
Many of these scholars are or were behind grade level. We work extremely hard to eliminate this achievement gap so that these scholars can reach their full potential and hopefully one day help change the world. My scholars are an amazing group of kids that were simply born without some opportunities that others were provided.
Both the instructors at our school and the scholars strive for these three core values every day. We work through extended school days and school years to ensure that we are climbing towards our potential. These scholars are so grateful and loving and truly enjoy learning!
My Project
My scholars need multiple copies of books to go with audio cds for literacy centers, as well as a cd player to play the cds and headphone splitters. My scholars have never had many resources available at their fingertips. As much as I would love to provide resources for them, I cannot afford to buy all the materials that my scholars need. Your donation will benefit my scholars exponentially. They look forward to centers and cannot wait to further implement them. Through this, they will continue to realize that learning is fun. By experiencing the love in learning, they will continue to grow into professional adults.
With many of my scholars behind grade level, small group instruction is incredibly important so that each scholar can get the full attention that they need and deserve.
To make this possible, we incorporate Language Arts centers into daily instruction. This not only allows for me to have more one on one time with the scholars, but it also provides them with various opportunities to learn, grow, and experience new interests.
