My Students

Our school has a population of approximately 400 students, of which about 65% qualify for free and reduced lunches. We are a Title I Kansas School with numerous academic challenges. Our students are eager to learn and often times lacking in experiences with the world they live in due to circumstances out of their control. Our third grade students are excited to have hands on materials that they will be able to take home and share with their family members.

My Project

Scholastic magazines will provide students with an opportunity to read various nonfiction text that are always current and engaging! Having Scholastic News, Scholastic Super Science News and Scholastic DynaMath will help to create a language rich experience for all students. Each student will receive their own copy of the magazines and will allow them to go more in-depth with their reading comprehension and fluency. Students can engage with these resources in both whole and small groups, as well as on an individual basis. These magazines provide unique opportunities for students to learn about their world and bring their world in to perspective from their point of view. Each new set of magazines comes with a complete set of digital teaching tools as well!
