Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an incredible group of students who are curious, thoughtful, and eager to understand the world around them. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of perspectives and experiences into the classroom. What I love most about my students is their openness to new ideas and their willingness to have meaningful conversations about fairness, identity, and justice.

This project will provide my students with access to high-quality, age-appropriate books that focus on racial justice, inequality, and the experiences of historically marginalized communities.

These stories will help them see the world through different lenses, encouraging empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the ongoing struggle for equity.

Many of my students have not had the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the books they read. By diversifying our classroom library, I want them to feel seen, valued, and inspired. These books will serve as springboards for discussion, writing, and reflection, helping students build the language and confidence to talk about difficult but important topics. With your support, we can create a classroom that not only values diversity but actively engages with it to build a better, more just future.
