My Students
A typical day in our room simply does not exist! Each day is a new learning adventure! Some things one might witness on any given morning are bright faces deep into their backpacks scrambling for homework. Other students are quietly scarfing down breakfast or reading independently.
Students would describe our school as a fun place to learn.
Many of the students have attended this school since pre-school and have really grown lasting friendships! They truly enjoy learning with each other. Whenever a student is struggling there are several hands lent for assistance.
My Project
In effort to instill life long learners and readers, all my students need access to literature. Students above grade level are able to enjoy reading independently, unfortunately that is not a simple task for every student. Third grade is a difficult transitional period for all students. In third grade, students transition from reading to learn, to learning to read.
A significant amount of my class is below grade level, which means they are missing out on literature. They too deserve to experience the privilege of enjoying interesting literature, the only way to do that is allowing access to literature via audio CDs on MP3 players.
All students, no matter their reading level will have equal access to a shared piece of literature.
This would not only link the many reading levels in my class, but also foster a confidence as well as a deeper interest for reading and learning.
