Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Those with knowledge will be best prepared to lead us in the future...so it is incredibly important I foster the civic knowledge our kids need to navigate their adult life. By using fiction like Cinderella is Dead, I can highlight the importance of first amendment rights.

Student voices can be supported and uplifted by learning about their first amendment rights!

Avi's award winning book along with posterboard is a great one-two punch in a lesson in 1st amendment rights. First, students will read, analyze and discuss the text "Nothing But The Truth," which brings the topic close to home with a fictional 9th grader who gets in trouble for singing along with the national anthem.

After students have a deeper understanding for their 1st amendment rights they will have their first protest. Each child will research issues important to them and walk the halls with protest poster they have created with the donated markers & posterboard.
