This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a preschool special education class and are ready to learn and explore their environment. All of my students live in a low-income community in the Los Angeles area. My student has different types of disabilities ranging from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Impairment, and Intellectual Disability. All of my students are full of energy and eager to learn every day. They always show up with the most positive attitude and are ready to learn!
My Project
Teaching young children about emotions is so important. It's important because children have to learn how to cope during the pandemic we are facing worldwide
Some coping strategies that my students may learn can be breathing exercises, counting to 10, or reading books to better understand what is going on.
It's important to teach young kids coping skills that can help them face their fears, calm themselves down, and cheer themselves up.
I am requesting social emotional books for my student to help them learn coping skills and understand their feelings during these times where we have to stay inside
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
