Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am asking for a subscription to scholastic news magazine for my fifth graders. I have used this in the past and the students love learning about different events and topics separate from the curriculum. Scholastic news magazines have easy and interesting articles about animals, science and world events. Sometimes the topics connect to what we are leaning but many times it helps bridge the gap.
This is a great resource for all learners because the articles are written in kid friendly language and there are fantastic visuals as well.
The digital component is great too because it allows my students to watch videos or hear the article read to them, which is good for the English language learners.
