My Students

My students are hardworking, funny, and passionate about everything they do. They enjoy learning about new, exciting, and diverse topics that require them to challenge themselves and others. Discovering new aspects of history and finding connections to current events are particularly interesting to them.

As 8th graders (many of whom are English Language Learners) they need access to programs that make material accessible to them.

With the ability to use translation programs & access information with ease, they can expand their understanding of history and government.

My Project

I am requesting a laptop to bring more technology into our classroom. My students need quick access to various materials when doing projects, or researching for a debate or presentation. Our classroom is full of discussion and creativity. Having access to a laptop would increase students' ability to research different perspectives, find images & political cartoons, and access videos that will help them to understand topics that are sometimes very complex.

Having access to a computer to bring current events into the classroom will increase my students' understanding of the world around them & give them increased understanding in connections to historical events.
