My Students
Hello! I teach in a K-2 school with approximately 1,000 students. Our school has a diverse population of students. My students are smart, enthusiastic, creative, hardworking, eager, and respectful. My classroom consists of students with all different backgrounds. I have high functioning students, low functioning students, and ELL students. My school offers reading and math interventions to aid struggling learners in their educational success.
Our school does not receive Title 1 funding.
Thus, the technology and resources in my classroom are limited. Most of my resources are supplied by either myself or through parent donations. The environment provided by the administration, teachers, and staff is inviting and nurturing. We are dedicated to meeting the needs of each student that walks through the doors.
My Project
My classroom has cold, tile floors. Currently my students sit on the floor during independent reading time. They don't complain about the environment, but I know they are uncomfortable. I am requesting a round rug, 2 flexible seating cushions, and a bean bag to make my "reading nook" more cozy.
I want my students to enjoy reading, and part of that starts with the environment.
The items I am asking for will provide comfort and will encourage students to read more!
I cannot wait to see the look on their faces when they see how the reading area has changed!
