Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will provide my students with grade-level appropriate reading books that they can enjoy and learn from throughout the summer. As the summer months approach, many students find themselves without the structure and routine that school offers, and unfortunately, reading is often not a part of their day-to-day activities. This leads to a significant gap in their learning, and many students experience what is commonly known as the “summer slide,” where their reading skills diminish over the break. To combat this, I am hoping to give my students the opportunity to take home books that will not only keep them engaged but also continue to foster a love of reading even when school is out of session.
A great book can make a huge difference in a child’s learning and sense of curiosity.
With your help, we can give these kids the summer they deserve—one full of adventure, mystery, and the joy of reading! I am looking to provide my students with a collection of fun, engaging chapter books from a variety of series they have already seen in my classroom library. These books have sparked their curiosity, and now I want to allow them to take them home and read them independently during the summer. These books will not only allow students to maintain their reading practice but will also give them the excitement of diving into stories they are eager to explore further.
By providing these books, I am not only giving my students the tools they need to continue their reading journey but also ensuring they will feel motivated to read throughout the summer.
