My Students

My school is in Sandusky, Ohio. Our students come from a diverse background with mostly low-income families. Our school has a very high poverty rate with families that are not able to provide ready for school experiences for their children. Because of these low-income situations, our children do not have real world experiences that help them make their learning come alive! We would love to allow these students to have the opportunity to read and immerse themselves in real world science, literacy, math and social studies experiences! This will make them well-rounded students with deeper and richer learning backgrounds.

My Project

I live and work in an area where my students are mostly from low socioeconomic backgrounds with a high percentage of single parent homes. My students sometimes do not get out of their own neighborhoods to experience the world around them. We live right on Lake Erie and we often see students who have never seen the lake that is right in their town.

Scholastic News subscriptions would be invaluable to my students so that they can get out of their small world and experience the world around them.

Since we have experienced budget cuts, they are not able to take large field trips anymore and therefore are limited in what hey can experience. Your donation would make a huge difference in broadening their horizons!
