I teach special education reading, science, and social studies in a middle school classroom. Our school is a low-income school with more than 90% of the students receiving free or reduced lunches. We have a large portion of our students receiving special education services.
However, their willingness to come to class and be ready to learn makes everyday exciting.
My students love learning how to create things and how to perform different jobs. They have a great desire for new information and I want them to be successful in all of their endeavors.
My Project
The materials I'm requesting consist of audio books and teaching guides for a variety of novels for my school. I teach all three grades in the middle school, and unfortunately we only have one audio copy of novels (if we have the audio book at all). We have very few teaching guides in our school, and we have 3 teachers teaching novels. We will use the materials to help us comprehend the stories, do research, work on vocabulary, and get a great understanding of literature.
Studies show that listening increases comprehension, and I want to give my students the best shot at success I can.
Most of my students come from low-income families, who can't afford to contribute to resources for education.
Your help with these audio books and teaching guides will create the best opportunity for my students to succeed, improve their reading skills, and become literate adults, who will be a great contribution to our communities. Success starts with us, Every Student, Every Day!
