This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is a melting pot of students from different backgrounds, personalities, interests, and ability levels. They come to school every day looking forward to learning new concepts and participating in a variety of activities.
The majority of my students attend my school because they live in the neighborhood.
The students all receive free lunch through the free and reduced-price lunch program. They come to school to learn from educators who genuinely care about them. They are looking for the best education ever!
My Project
Students need exposure to rich literature at an early age...
"The more you read, the more things you will know!
The more you learn, the more places you will go" -Dr. Seuss
My students would benefit from having a leveled library to allow them to make real-world connections at their level. We know that students learn and grow at varying rates, and our class library should encompass a variety of texts for children to explore and interact with at their individual level. I want the students to find magic and comfort wherever they look, but we need the resources that will allow us sit back and relax with a book!
A leveled library in a comfy setting will engage students in reading, as well as other components of literacy, ultimately encouraging success in all core subjects!
There is no substitute for a book in the life a child!
