Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, rural area, my students face many challenges both inside and out of the classroom. It is up to me to provide them with a positive and enjoyable learning environment. My students have an endless desire to learn. It is my challenge to motivate and engage the very curious and relax the highly energized so that all of my students feel confident in their learning environment. I want them to walk in from day one and feel safe, loved, and part of our class, ready to accomplish anything!

I am a Read 180 teacher in a Title I School District.

The typical student that walks through my door is far from reaching their goal of being a proficient reader than their average 5th grade student. Over 75% of my students enter on a beginning reading level.

My Project

I love the Read 180 Instructional program and have watched students grow in their ability to read every year. There are so many advantages but one disadvantage is the lack of equipment and the wear and tear of the equipment. We need an iPad to ensure that students have consistent use of the technology needed to be successful.

Students will benefit from having an iPad to access their individualized learning program to accelerate their learning in Read 180 Program.

My students would be so appreciative of the extra opportunities provided by the additional technology to gain needed skills and confidence to READ!
