Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have not yet discovered the joy of reading books. A large part of the problem is my students are not reading books at their level. My students have yet to experience that reading is exciting and can feed your imagination.
My students are so wonderful and want to learn but they are challenged before they even enter school.
My school does not have the funds to buy the books that my classroom needs. They are not able to go to the library where they can choose books that encourage them to read more. It is up to me to help every child at every different level. I want to do everything I can in my power to help my students grow.
My Project
I am requesting sets of leveled reading books to accommodate the huge reading range in my classroom. My students need quality fiction and nonfiction texts to build basic reading at their level. All of the books in this project would enhance and support instruction in the classroom. These books are quality fiction and nonfiction books that will be used to develop basic language skills while expanding students' vocabularies. Nonfiction texts will help students understand the world around them, including but not limited to countries, cultures, customs, the arts, religion, technology, math, science, our universe, and beyond.
Our school is a Title I school in which all of the population is of low socioeconomic status.
Our school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch for all every day. However, our school is still a magnificent place to learn and grow. We have amazing students and parents that care so much. I want to do all I can to help.
