My students need books to read to inspire them to learn about art and artists.

My Students
Smoke Rise Elementary School is a Title I school serving a small community in Georgia. Though it be little, the students are fierce and tenacious about learning.
Smoke Rise students are warm and bright.
They are eager to learn about art and learn different processes of making art. Learning about art expands the students' world view. Making art improves the students' problem solving skills and allows them to exercise their creativity. Support for the Smoke Rise Art Program helps my students develop these skills.
My Project
Smoke Rise Elementary students love to read about art and artists. I use the books that we have to inspire them and read them aloud to introduce lessons. Students are able to view and read books when they complete an assignment.
The new books will add to the Art Library in the Art Classroom.
I make sure to stock a well-rounded library. I fill it with examples of artists throughout history and from different cultures. I also like to include books on different reading levels to inspire the younger and older students.
You never know what will inspire a student. Seeing the artists and example of their art will help them recognize it when they see it in the real world. They also like to include parts of an artwork in their own art.
