My Students

Do you remember what is was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students are just beginning to discover books that capture their imaginations, and I want to provide them with the reading materials necessary to help them become lifelong readers!

I teach 8th grade language arts in a public school system in Ohio.

My students are an amazing group of young adults who are very eager to learn and receive an education that will help them on their academic journeys and to become successful members of their community!

My Project

My students need young adult books in a variety of genres, including Bone Gap, Ninteen minutes and A Night Divided. The books that I have requested are very current and popular in the young adult reading world. I feel that it is crucial to provide my students with different books and genres that appeal to their interests so that they want to read. Reading should not be something that kids dread. Instead, reading should be an adventure and an opportunity for them to use their imaginations! I strongly believe that reading will change my students' lives! I not only want my students to become passionate readers, but I also want them to understand that reading is a skill that they should endeavor to master for the rest of their lives! Not only will reading take them on grand adventures, but it will also help them to develop their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and spelling skills, as well as strengthen their ability to discern critically the information that they are reading!

I firmly believe that this project will help change lives.

I feel that one of the best ways for my students to understand why reading is so important is for them to see those around them reading. With the help of your donations, my students will have the ability to not only read themselves but to share their reading experiences with their friends and families. Together, we can give these students the adventure of a lifetime and create the most amazing community of readers!
