My Students

This project will go to support all the first graders at my school, including our special needs students. Approximately 73.9% of the students my school serves are classified as economically disadvantaged, (FLDOE.) We are a Title 1 school with a passion for providing our students with the resources they need to take ownership of their learning!

Every day our first graders display their natural curiosity for learning through books, online content, and interactive experiences!

My Project

The first-grade teachers at our school have the vision of creating a digital literacy environment for students with the goal of reducing the occurrence of “digital divide.” 73.9% of the students are classified as economically disadvantaged, (FLDOE.) Currently, each first-grade classroom is equipped with 5 PC’s provided by our district. These PC’s are utilized primarily for district-wide programs such as i-Ready 45 minutes per week. The lack of supplementary technology limits the types of literacy interactions students receive. This will provide students with diverse literacy delivery operations such as; digital books, audio books, read-to-me books, literacy-based videos, and student-generated portfolios. These technology-based tools will enhance and complement our existing classroom libraries, which will foster student choice and provide students with a wide range of texts. We recently received 5 HP ProBooks through a successful DonorsChoose project that we are sharing as a grade level. Will you help us reach our goal of having 5 in every first-grade classroom?
