My Students

My Salt Lake City suburb students come to me each morning with unique needs, strengths, and weaknesses, and an expectation to learn. Three of my students are at a severe socioeconomic disadvantage and receive weekly pantry packs from the Utah Food Bank. I've got the other end of the spectrum as well, with students who want for nothing at home.

I have an amazing class of academically, ethnically, and economically diverse students.

Each day we find common ground to come together on this journey as they prepare to move onto junior high.

My Project

These tables and chairs will give students a place to work and learn individually and as a collaborative team! Students can feel some control over their own learning through flexible seating. Typical seating in a classroom requires that students are in desks, typically facing the front of the room, and working independently. I work at a higher level when working with my colleagues, and students will learn at a higher level when working with peers.

Students will work together in small groups, participate in collaborative discussions, and problem solve with their peers.

I can help meet some of the language arts standards by having the flexibility of changing seating and where students learn in our classroom environment.
