Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My diverse classroom is composed primarily of English Language Learners in a high poverty area. My students come from different academic, linguistic, and socio-cultural backgrounds. They are eager learners who need time, understanding, and a friendly environment that gives them the security and opportunity to discover themselves and their world.

Most of my students start 2nd grade without reading or writing.

Our school does not have a library, so it is in the classroom that students have the opportunity to read and listen to stories, to learn about their world, and to discover how much they can do for the future.

My Project

Our planet needs help and care. Children need to understand how they can conserve natural resources and learn about sustainability. As climate-related disasters continue to make headlines, our children need to learn how to care about the environment.

There are many ways to teach children to take care of the planet, and one simple yet powerful approach is through books.

Environmental Science children’s books offer meaningful messages about nature, recycling, environmental activism and more.

The books on this list are full of powerful messages about nature and environmental issues. They might help foster an appreciation of the natural world and conservation efforts, or encourage kids to get involved with climate activism.
