My Students

As a teacher, it is my job to challenge and inspire my students. I want to show my students that there is more world, and more life beyond our small community. I want to encourage my students to look beyond what they know and believe and strive to be more. My students are amazing. They are leaders, entrepreneurs, scientists, doctors, teachers, etc. they just need that push, that encouragement and inspiration to work hard and challenge themselves. I believe books open the eyes of all and show them a world they were unable to see before.

My Project

I live and teach in a community stricken with poverty. Many of my students do not have books at home or someone at home to read to them. I am asking for help in purchasing book sets for my small group instruction, so I can sit and read with my students. These books will allow me to not only share in a vital experience that every child should have, but also I will be able show the world to my students who may otherwise never see anything beyond our small, rural community. I hope to instill a love of reading in my students to inspire them to want to learn so they can become more than what their current circumstances dictate. With these books, they will know more world, more opportunities, and more possibilities than they ever knew before.
