This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It's important to make sure that my students will continue to have access to books that they want to read. Creating a comfortable learning environment, providing a safe space, and motivating students towards their goals are assisted through a literacy-rich environment. I would like to increase student exposure to diverse children's books that have characters that represent our unique student population.
Students who aren't ever given a new book due to financial constraints will have the chance to select from our class library and even keep resources to use at home.
By adding more books of this kind, I know that my students will keep reading all year long. The students I work with love to read when they can connect with the text. The more books students have in their hands that have diverse characters, the more culturally diverse and culturally educated our students will become.
