My Project
Have you ever heard of a Read It Yourself (R.I.Y) Book Bag Project? I want to provide my students with a variety of book bag projects in the library for checkout. For example, book bags with an Origami How-to book & hands-on project, book bags with an entertaining picture book such as Pig the Pug and a how-to-draw project, and book bags with one of the most popular reading series in my library If You Had an Animal _____, and project. The students love the pictures and the animal information in these books.
Bringing reading to life for students with book bag projects.
Each student has different interests and I want to provide them with resources. I have students interested in origami and I want to provide a How-to Fold Origami book and sheets of origami paper in a book bag for checkout in the library. I have students who like to draw. I want to give them an entertaining book and a how-to-draw project that goes along with the book. Incorporating reading into their projects is my goal. I have started a Read for 20 Minutes a Day initiative with the school. These project book bags will connect reading and their interests.
