Help me give my students books that promote a love of literature in a positive, nurturing environment. Exposure to reading is important in developing a vocabulary for fluency and comprehension.

My Students
My students are very special because of the obstacles they face every day. Many students are being raised in single-parent households and receive free and reduced-price lunch. They live on the far eastside of Indianapolis in one of the mayor's hot zones.
Despite all the challenges both in and out the classroom they come to school to learn and succeed.
Our school provides students with creative and meaningful learning experiences when we are equipped to do so. The students social economic status prevents them from life experience that other children get to experience every day!
My Project
We believe that choice drives engagement for our students; thus, literature written by diverse authors who address relevant and current topics will be the perfect models to help students engage in meaningful dialogue with one another during book club.
It is important to create a strong bond through books.
Book Clubs allow students to hold engaging conversations with their peers about a common topic: BOOKS! This helps hold students accountable and builds stamina for reading! Student success is at the forefront of this project! Help us provide books for our students.
